Homicipher is an adventure game focused on decoding and learning language. The main character enters an alternate world, interacting with non human creatures speaking an unusual language. Players interpret and decipher the characters' words through expressions, gestures, and the objects they point to, striving to escape this alternate world. The game's language is less complex than human languages, with unambiguous meanings expressed by a single word and a minimal number of particles. Players examine objects to learn words and engage in conversations to progress. Choices are available at various points, leading to minor changes in progression, branching paths, or instant death. Even after completing a game, players can try again without penalty. The game allows players to return to previously encountered scenes and try again, ensuring a comfortable and simple process. The game offers a point-and-click adventure experience where players explore the environment, interact with characters, and solve puzzles. It emphasizes replayability, with understanding conversations requiring repeated viewing of scenes after expanding one's vocabulary. The main ending is achieved in Chapter 5, with numerous interim endings, including several false endings for added effect.
