SILENT HILL 2 is a full fledged remake of the legendary horror game and the most popular installment in the Silent Hill franchise, released back in 2001. One of the main innovations is the project's development on a completely new engine Unreal Engine 5. This means the graphics, animations, landscapes, and lighting will boast detailed elaboration and meet modern standards. The developers have also completely redesigned the interface and gameplay. Compared to the original, controls are significantly more user-friendly, and the shooting system and camera settings have been improved, as only a third person over the shoulder view is available. While the plot remains faithful to the source material, the story has also been reworked. In other words, the narrative will be expanded. Many gamers will be pleased to learn more about the fates of minor characters encountered during the game. The game world will no longer be divided into isolated locations and will be completely seamless no level loading times whatsoever, as you can navigate open spaces and buildings without interruptions. The story begins when the protagonist, James Sunderland, receives a mysterious letter from his wife, Mary. This is extremely strange, as she died three years ago. She invites her husband to visit her home village and meet at their special place. All events take place in the small village of Silent Hill. No longer the pleasant town, it's a semi abandoned place shrouded in a mysterious fog, and terrifying monsters and psychos roam everywhere, attacking anything that moves. The player must fight their way through hordes of enemies and constantly flee from a huge monster, Pyramid Head, who constantly pursues the player. During their travels, they encounter many interesting NPCs who will tell their own stories, and sometimes even have the opportunity to decide their fate, leading to one of four endings. It's worth mentioning that the game's sound hasn't been overlooked. Thanks to the updated sound system, you can detect enemy presences, call for help, and even aim through the fog using only shuffling sounds or roars, adding to the remake's atmosphere.
