Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy is a rock climbing game that will teach players calmness patience and self control. This action-adventure game was created by renowned developer Bennett Foddy, who has played it many times himself. It features monologues from the creator about difficulties and the desire to move forward. Players take on the role of an experienced rock climber attempting to scale a high mountain without special equipment. The goal is to reach the summit without using their legs, where they receive only a hammer. Successful players will receive a reward and unlock secrets. During the game, the character can jump, swing, climb, and fly. Players assume the role of Diogenes, a man who doesn't like to talk. The protagonist sits in a special cauldron that he uses to ascend, and also uses the Yosemite hammer to move and grab onto objects. There are numerous unstable ledges and precipices, causing the protagonist to lose their balance and fall off the mountain. The game's main gimmick is constant failure without the ability to save progress. One wrong move, and the game starts all over again. There's only one location, just like the level, but the difficulty and cost of failure are high, as when falling, the hero will see the entire mountain and the obstacles they've previously overcome. No matter how much the player has explored the cliff itself through their failures, they can get stuck anywhere.
