OMSI 2 is a bus driving simulator, an improved and updated successor to the original first installment in the series. The game retains the previous mechanics but adds new routes, vehicles, and a timeline feature. Players will visit Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall, driving regular or double decker buses. In OMSI 2 is a players can drive various models, all based on real-life examples. These include the MAN SD200 and SD202 double decker buses, bearing the logos of the original manufacturer, and modifications to the series, depending on the time period in which the player explores the locations. The events take place in the German capital of the late 1980s, in the cozy district of Spandau and the small town of Grundorf, ideal for learning the basics of driving. Players will travel the entire period from 1986 to 1994 and discover key changes in transportation and the city itself. The simulator features a full day and night cycle, various weather conditions, and changing seasons. The congested streets are filled with cars that adhere to traffic rules, but occasionally there are speeders or reckless drivers cutting others off. The majority of the traffic consists of passenger cars from Volkswagen, Mercedes, Opel, and Citroën, whose performance is easily observed.
