Once Upon a Katamari is a journey through the ages, in which a katamari ball rolls through prehistoric and historical landscapes to collect everything it encounters. The gameplay takes players to the Jurassic Period, the Ice Age, and even Ancient Greece, forcing them to collect dinosaurs and other themed items to restore the lost splendor of the heavens. This extraordinary mission to restore order to the universe was prompted by the actions of the King of All Cosmos.
Having discovered the mysterious Cosmic Scroll, he accidentally triggered the destruction of all stars and planets, setting the stage for this time traveling adventure. The King's son, known as the Prince, becomes the primary executor of his will, though his numerous relatives can also take on this task. There are 68 cousins to choose from, each with their own unique appearance, customizing their colors and facial features to create unique characters. The main goal in Once Upon a Katamari is to gradually increase the size of the katamari, from small objects to entire buildings.
